Understanding Our Chargeable Extras & Supplements (April 2026 to March 2027)
At Sowing and Growing, we are dedicated to providing a full-service experience that goes beyond basic childcare. Our mission is to provide all children with the greatest opportunities to learn, ensuring they have access to the best nutrition, resources, and learning opportunities.
Why we have "Chargeable Extras”.
The early years funding we receive from the Local Authority is designed to cover core "delivered childcare" only. Unfortunately, this funding is insufficient to cover the actual costs of the premium meals, resources, and specialist activities we provide. To bridge this gap and protect the quality of our provision, we apply a small supplementary charge to funded hours.
How we approach Chargeable Extras
We have sought to keep chargeable extras as low as possible. Firstly, we only apply these to children who are over 3 years old where the gap is greatest and secondly the amount we charge over 3s does not fully reflect the cost of providing these extras. You will see in the table below we show this as transitional relief of £1.10 per hour.
What this means for our parents:
During the period April 2026 to March 2027:
· Under 3s – no supplements on funded hours
· Over 3s - £27.50 per month for those receiving 15 hours per week and £55.50 per month for those receiving 30 hours per week.
Our Transparency Promise
All-Inclusive Quotes: The prices shown on our main fee table already include all applicable chargeable extras—there are no hidden surprises.
Flexibility: If you do not wish to access specific extras (for example, if you prefer to provide your own nappies or meals), please contact the Nursery Manager to discuss alternative arrangements.
